The sun blazed in the sky as the young bovinite made his way along the road from the fungal forest, hood pulled up along with his mask to protect him from the sun and the sand, grabbing his canteen and taking a sip of wate.
Delrius had sweat running down his face, wiping what he could as he could see bandits pass just ahead of him, checking his map to make sure he knew his route. “Well, making some good time………hopefully getting through the pass won’t take too long.” Though seeing the size of it, if he kept a solid pace for a little longer than a day he could more than likely reach the other side, if he didn’t hit any delays.
There was a cross roads coming up soon, it would probably be better to try reaching the pass at mid day tomorrow, perhaps earlier depending on when he woke up the next day. He stopped where the paths diverged, one leading towards Nirvana and the other in the direction he wanted, checking the placement of the sun and cursing under his breath. “I’m gonna start losing light soon, better set up camp before it gets too dark to see.”
Delrius took his knife as he cut apart some cactuses that were near the cross roads, gathering them up and pricking himself every now and then, using the pant life and dead roots to start a fire, the desert could be cold and harsh and night. Not to mention this fire would keep most predators and other wildlife away for the night, sitting on a rock as he reached into his satchel and grabbed his journal. He was taking notes of his journey so far, deciding to write about his Adventure and journey to becoming a wandering healer.
His camp was off the main path, away from the traffic of others that might pass by but with the flames of the fire it wasn’t like he wasn’t visible.
Delrius pulled his hood down and the mask from his face, his yellow eyes staring into the flames for a moment as he placed his journal away, leaning forward and resting his arms on his legs, humming softly to himself. “Emerald city here I come. It’s been a little while since I went back, but it will be a worthwhile trip.” The bovinite looked forward to seeing the city again, reaching into his coat pocket to feel the bag of coins there, making sure he still had them as he intended on using it to purchase any form of knowledge he could on medicine.
