Delrius had his jaw hit the floor when the woman started to go on about the birds and the bees, but he couldn’t keep the humorous smile off his face and laugh a little after Zelena had finished, “Not exactly what I meant, but thank you……..” Then she even took a stab at his intelligence, which in turn caused him to laugh and chuckle a little as his yellow eyes looked up towards her. “Thank you. For lifting my spirit a little.” The bull took a deep breath as he leaned back against the rock, looking back up towards the cave ceiling as he placed his hands together in front of him, “How did you know I was on the mushroom earlier and where I was in the cave? What extra sense allowed you to see me?” He figured small talk wouldn’t be a bad way to try and make up for his droning and foolish actions, he still kinda felt like crap but he was beginning to adjust. Planning his next move after this, the best course of action would be traveling to Emerald city, to continue his studies there of botany and medicine. Such a thought made him realize, a clinic in emerald would be the best way to help people. Its true he wouldn’t be able to travel as much, wouldn’t stop him from doing so yet it wouldn’t be a frequent as what he was doing now. Yet there had to be a sacrifice on his end if he wished to progress forward, the path wouldn’t make itself, it had to be tread on and cleared before you can see it. ‘Guess I know where my journey leads me………back to that school.’ He snapped himself back to reality for a moment, realizing that he had been daydreaming and lost in thought, looking towards the cephalopod next to him. ”Oh um, I was just deep in thought……….planning my next move after I leave the forest, other encounters have helped me find out what I need to do next. And how much of a fool I’ve been.” He chuckled nervously at his own words, rubbing his eyes as he felt exhausted from traveling and from his new revelations about himself, “I know I haven’t been the best company. I’m sure you’ve had much better than me.” He joked, a small smile on his face as he figured it could help with the tension, and he was starting to feel a lot better.

Delrius stopped for a moment, he went silent as he listened to the woman’s words, reflecting on what he himself had said, letting a deep breath be placing his hands on the back of his head. “Yeah………I’ve been an ass.“ The bull walked over to a large enough rock so that he could sit down, placing his hands in his lap while he contemplated. This is wasnt the way, what in the name of the elders was he doing?! He looked up towards Zelena as though he was trying to find the words to say, but his mouth would move and the sound would be missing, his young mind having realized a mistake was made and that he was finding it difficult trying to remedy his situation. “I don’t want to hurt you. I don’t want to hurt anyone………” He kept his words quick, he didn’t feel like speaking too much now, his words like explosives at this point, one wrong word and it would blow up in his face. Maybe trying to change the subject would help him out, but what topic would get him away from his own idiocy at this point? His mind tried digging for something, until a certain few words popped into his head that she had spoken earlier. ”I have but one question………then you won’t here another foolish word from me.” Delrius‘ voice had softened, the tone showing how he was thinking a little more carefully of what to say, showing more respect to Zelena than what he had before hand. “You said you knew more of the conception of the bovinites, i don’t remember much from my own birth………….where did we come from?” This was something that had bothered him for quite awhile, and ever since he got older the thoughts and questions kept growing in number, but finding the right person to ask had been the most difficult part. The bull went silent again as he was lost in thought, looking towards the woman that was keeping him company, truly he was shocked she hadnt killed him or just left. Delrius decided to wait on her answer, taking out his journal as he started to write, putting in a note to mind his words. Stop rushing head first into the problem and think over, when he finished he placed it back into his satchel, his yellow eyes having softened, almost looking ashamed for the way he had acted. “You’re right. I am a fool. I should’ve realized that sooner……..” What if he was going about this all wrong, trying to learn on his own? The thought of studying in one of those schools really wasnt a prominent thought, but maybe it needed to be. He wanted to be a doctor, maybe it was time that he accepted he needed help for once. All the while he forgot Zelena was there for a moment, “Um, I wish to apologize for my words and actions……….. and had no right to say the things I did.”

Delrius paused for a moment as the woman spoke of those words, what did she know about the birth of his kin? Could she possibly hold answers to some of the questions he held from those days, waking to a darkness, his mind barely comprehending what was going on before the shell was cracked and he with many others were birthed upon the sands. “For one I do not speak for my people, I speak for my actions and the consequences that follow them……….this one is defitnely in the brewing stand.” he chuckled lightly before facepalming at his own ignorance, “And forgive me for that, the name is Delrius.” He looked up and noticed the motion of her wiping and fidgeting with her nose, possibly a form of allergy but he would have to inwuire on that carefully in the future, now wasn’t the best time. Zelena, sounded very mysterious yet powerful, defitnely a good pick for the being before him. Those eyes are what caused him the slightest worry, the look of hate and disdain that laid beneath the surface, brimming along the edges ready to boil over and explode. The Bovinites had done something to her before his time, perhaps the act of their birth and this woman had some form of common link, but he doubted such information would be given out so easily. ”Of course……..ask away.” Though he wasn’t prepared for such questions that berated him, he could feel the emotion behind her words, she had seen much in her time. More than he could ever hope to see and some he knew would be inevitabl. such was the way of the world. Delrius sighed as the Zelena had a point to her words, in her eyes he seemed more prone to violence, but only because his actions had lead her to believe so. “You’re right, between the two of us in that moment it would seem like I wanted to hurt you. Believe me I doubt I could even if given such a chance, though the chance itself must be taken……….and you’re pressing damn terrifying trampling through the fungal forest with those tendrils I’ll have you know.” Light hearted humor may not be too affective, but it was helping to keep him a little calm. He needed it in this moment. “You say my vision is compromised? Okay I’ll give you that, I can defitnely be a little naive at times, maybe more so than needed.” The alchemist took a deep breath as she mentioned that he didn’t understand what real pain was like, physical pain was one thing, but the pain of the soul and mind were something completely different. “Again you speak truth. I can’t possibly understand the pain of others and yourself that have occurred………” He crossed his arms as he looked down towards the cavern floor, his mind going through a few of his own thoughts. ”I’ll be honest you’re Anatomy is gonna be different than mine, but certain features share similar to my own. A basic examining would lead me to further conclusions, and as for why I’m trekking through this forest…………I was gathering herbs to help make medicines. My book has told me of a few things that grow out here, and I was collecting them, doesn’t cost me anything, and the hands on experience is what I’m looking for.” The young bull looked up and tilted his as he stared into those eyes, “Which raises a question of my own. I’ve never seen someone of yours species. What brings a powerful being such as yourself to the sands?”

Delrius stopped when the moth began to stare him down, he raised a brow before she spoke, though he didn’t show it until Akna had turned around, but there was a look of insight. He stayed silent as they began their trek through the sands, their goal to aim for the pass before night fall, simply traversing through bandits pass would take a good chunk of the day. The young bull kept his eye on the woman as they journeyed, though she had not shown any signs of something shady he could not be too cautious, some things needed to be prepared for just in case. Collecting a few of the fungal plant life for later uses of botany and study, looking upon the massive cliff face that stood before the two. Of course he was the one that had started to press on before he noticed the lack of foot steps behind him, turning to see Akna having stopped in her tracks. “We should travel of the pass what we can before dark, there are good crevices and concave outco in the pass to camp in.” The bovinite turned and continued on his March into the pass, now that there was some shade he pulled his hood down along with his mask, listening to the wind along the rocky walls, humming to himself as he looked up and took note of how much time they would have left before they would need to settle down for the night. He looked at their surroundings before finding the perfect little cove, the space in the rock went back about twenty feet, the ceiling was a little low but since they were going to use it to rest for the night then it would suffice for their oasis needs. ”This should do, get a fire started and the heat will be nice and cozy.“ Delrius grinned before collecting a few old roots and such to start a source of light and warmth, gathering them together. Striking his flint and catching embers upon the materials, letting the fire take life before sitting back and placing his satchel to the side, he was ready for a little rest.

The bull rolled his eyes as the moth continued to be stubborn, laying down as he decided to get some rest and just travel, closing his eyes as he softly snores throughout the night, sleeping out here was something he had gotten used to from traveling. When the suns started to peak over the horizon his yellow eyes slowly began to stir, hearing the Akna stir and then stand as his mind was beginning to get going, though his dreary mind was quickly stirred and woken when he felt the woman’s foot kick against his side. He opened his eyes and stared up at her, crossing his arms as he tiredly glared at her, “Great……….…I’m awake. No need to get your fur in a twist.“ Delrius stood up and brushed the sand from his coat, putting out what remained of their fire from the night before, grabbing his satchel and checking it before tossing it across his shoulder. The bovinite pulled his hood up along with the mask over his mouth and nose as he walked past her and started back towards the trail that would take them to the pass. “Alright let’s go.“ He carried on forward while the suns kept rising up in the sky, checking his map and compass to keep him on the right track, “And do not think I would be in a hurry to follow you should you have left before I awoke, I had planned on making this trek by myself before I started. I’m used to being alone on them, either I would see your dead body on the way to emerald………..or see you belittling those you think are beneath you. When really most of us out here are trying to survive.” The bull turned around and stared at Akna for a moment, “So if you wish to face the perils of the sands alone. I’ll give you a days head start when we get to the pass. Does that work for you?” He put his map and compass away, crossing his arms as he stood upon the road, awaiting for her response. Or for her to tell him off, either felt like hood options in his mind.

Delrius took deep breaths to attenpt and keep his heart from bursting from his chest, his ears listening for any little sound that could help him locate the woman, but he had a thought that if she wished not to be found then he probably wouldn’t even be able to spot her unless she chose to reveal herself. The Bull was not used to attempting such bold actions, but there was something in the woman’s eyes that he could not overlook. He wouldn’t have been able to sleep well that night if he did not investigate, so he had swallowed what fear and worry he had to delve into the cave, his steps had started to grow slow and cautious. The further in he traveled the more light began to be lost from the outside world, he had stepped out of his domain, he couldn’t turn back now. Though he felt like he was being watched, the back of his neck felt warm as those eyes of flame stared him down. Clicking. The young scholar could hear the sound of clicking behind him, followed by a voice he hadn’t been expecting. Slowly he began to turn around, sitting in there in silence as he could almost feel the weight of her words, this being before him must of seen a lot, and knew what fights she could win and those that might not be worth fighting, standing his ground As he didn’t take his eyes off of her. “Every single day. Everyday I have such thoughts, of what might be on the other end………..the only thing I wait for, is to see who blinks first.” Delrius felt his heart rate go up a little bit, the slightest bit of sweat on his brow as he tried to relax his body some. “Ignorance? Is that what you see this as? Me being ignorant of the danger that lies before me, of the possibility of death standing not but ten feet away from me?” The bull took a deep breath as he considered his next words carefully, “It’s true that I go looking for answers, some complicated, others simple, though trying to find ones that can answer my questions is the difficult part.” He glanced at the tendrils that whipped against the walls, the only exit was blocked, no chance of escaping, there was only choice of conversation. “I first wish to apologize for having my weapons drawn against you, the forest is home to a few beasts that can easily take lives of those who aren’t careful. I’m no warrior looking for a trophy……….I’m simply a bovinite who wishes to help people, no matter who they might.” Delrius slowly reached into his satchel, pulling out the medical book he had been reading, “I wish to be a doctor.” He lifted it to show it to her, ”I know some wounds can’t be healed physically. I may have only seen a glimpse of it, but there was pain. I only wish to help………” His yellow eyes had softened, what happened next he wouldnt have control. Delrius knew that before stepping into the cave.

Delrius could only sit there and wat h as this being had stopped in the clearing from where he had gathered a few mushrooms from before he had started climbing on top of the massive toadstools. His yellow eyes locked upon this woman before him, studying her and trying to figure out what she was, truly he had never seen nor read anything about her species, his scholarly brain was firing on all cylinders as he wondered if she was a prexisting or a newer species upon the sands. Though the tendrils made him think otherwise. Though his observation was soon about to end when the woman turned to face him, laying there with his eyes peaking out as they went wide with surprise. Then the alchemist tried figurinh out how in all the sands she had figured out where he was so quickly, staring at her as he tried to think. ‘She would’ve noticed me sooner if it was by scent, same for hearing……….had to be some other natural skill or something gifted to her. Maybe I’ll ask if I get the chance.’ He thought, but for now he didn’t take his eyes off of her for a moment, keeping his attention towards her in case something bad happened, but truly he did not wish to use the weapons in his hands of conflict could be avoided. Her eyes told him everything once they locked for that slow minute, it was clear that she seemed to be thinking of what to do, but that sense of anxiety in them, something about it made the scholar feel pity for her. Without warning the shriek caught him off guard as he watched the woman dash away towards the cave, standing up and holstering his weapons, and his legs seemed to move on their own. “Wait!” The bull had called out to her but his words had fallen upon deaf ears, hopping down from one toad stool to another before landing on the forest floor. Delrius rushed off towards the cave, standing at the entrance as he tried to think, quickly grabbing a stick and wrapping old cloth he had in his satchel around the tip. He used his flint to catch fire to it, using it as a make shift torch before taking a deep breath as he slowly entered the cave, “Helllooooo?!” He called out a little cautiously, he couldnt see that well in the dark, and if she had located him without then she had the advantage in here. Hopefully that will making talking to her easier. Those eyes had been seared into his mind, never before had he seen such a look of impending fear, wait in for the worse to happen, it made him shiver. “Hello?!” Delrius called again, setting his torch up on the rocks as he listened for any sounds of movement, thinking that he might’ve picked up something. “I promise I’m here to do you no harm, my weapons have been put away and my hands are free. I just wish to talk.” The scholar wanted to ask about her, truly he had never seen anything of the sort, and his mind was just so curious as to figuring out where she may have come from. Sadly he doesn’t know that technically they are blood.

Delrius seemed a little disheartened that she didn’t feel like sharing the information, slowly putting away his journal before sitting down on the sand, leaning back against his rock as he got comfortable, they would need to leave before first light tomorrow to get to the the pass. The bovinite then perked up when Akna said that she would share a little bit of information with him, though he refrained from reaching for his journal as he was told that he wouldnt ever know what a star was truly made of. He did in fact chuckle at her statement of the goat king and what they might try to make him think, looking back up towards the sky as the moth gave him her definition of what they meant. The thought of using them as a means to discover who they are as people, what purpose suited them for their lives. “You used the stars as your map, that’s how you’ve been navigating the sands.” The bovinite was impressed with her knowledge and her tenacity to travel so far with no physical map, such a feat would be terrifying to him, but in a sense there was a thrill to it that he couldn’t quite deny. Delrius then heard that tone of her voice, how she mentioned teaching those who were capable, helping to spread intelligence that could bring upon new scholars. ”You’ve come to try and teach here within the sands………..” It didn’t make sense if she was already teaching back within her own territory, but that’s when it hit him. She left home for a reason, or was forced out. Such thoughts he decided not to dwell on, pushing them to the back of his mind. Instead he laughed softly as she gave him a more snarky compliment, rolling his eyes in a playful manner as he began to delve upon what she had said to him, humming as he racked his brain for a moment. “If what you are saying is true, and the stars helped you find your purpose……….then you see in young minds what you see in the sky when it’s dark. In the darkness that seems to swamp what’s above us there are bright lights among them. You see those talented minds as those lights.” Delrius sat up and glanced over at Akna, though he was sure he didn’t have her fully figured out, he could imagine it was part of the reason. “You wish to be a star in their eyes, someone they can always look for guidance the same way the stars guide you in the dark nights……….that’s why you’re so determined to get to the city. So that you guide young minds again.” The bovinite laid down, thinking she might be done trying to talk with him for the night, closing his eyes as he relaxed next to the fire. He couldnt help but smile as she mentioned of taking in others opinions and thoughts, “For some it can be too great for them to understand, others understand without a single tremor of hesitation. I want to craft my own theories, lay my own path along the sands. Because to me, it felt as though I was relying too much within those schools, is they had more people like you to teach the young ones they would be better off.” He took a deep breath and opened one eye in her general direction, “I’ll get you to the emerald city……..once they get your help, there will be more stars in the sky than ever before. Goodnight Akna.” With that he rolled over to get some sleep, closing his eyes as he let his exhaustion take hold, his mind drifting off as he fell asleep.

The Fungal Forest. Such a place was becoming a strong place of interest for the young scholar, having stepped away from the beaten path once again, chuckling to himself as he looked up. The two suns leaving slivers of light through the foliage of fungi, keeping the heat off his back as Delrius was in search of supplies for medicine. This was place was more than full of ingredients. The bovinite stopped in front of a small patch of mushrooms, kneeling down in front of them before grabbing a book out of his satchel, scrolling through the pages of it before finding what he was looking for. “Aha! There you are.” He read over the mushrooms uses and mixtures for medicine, closing it and putting it back in his satchel before pulling out his knife, cutting a few of them free before dropping them in his bag. ”Now what else can I find?” He was on a mission for supplies, he spent most of his money on the medicine book(granted that money had been given to him)but that wouldn’t stop him from going out and getting his materials himself. The medicine book came out once again, his yellow eyes scrolling over the pages as he stepped around plants and stopped to see if ones that he came across would be of any use to him, but he collected a few samples of some since they appeared to help with light illnesses. “There is a root in this forest somewhere that helps with belly aches and stiff joints………let’s see if I can’t find any of that to keep with me.” Delrius read over the root that was said to be in the Forest, but it grew up along some of the giant mushrooms and not underneath them, keeping his book open as he would have a visual aid to help discern the ones that he might find. The bovinite walked and walked, traversing deeper into the forest, keeping his ears open just in case something felt like trying to stalk him. Well………that didn’t quite work the last time either, “Great. Now I’m second guessing this.” Delrius pushed the thought away as he came towards a clearing, looking up and seeing some of the best part of the roots he was looking for near the top of one of the large mushrooms. “Shocker……..” He spoke in a sarcastic tone, jumping up on to one of the toadstools, then to another, finally getting high enough to get to them, pulling out his knife as he began to cut one of them. “Lets see, said to taste like beetle jerky as a test.” He took a deep breath before biting the tip of the root off, chewing it for a moment before he looked a little shocked, “Wow. It actually does.” The young scholar couldn’t help but chuckle as he placed the root in his satchel, cutting a few more free and storing them away before putting his knife back into its sheath. Then a fun idea came to mind since he was up so high, walking along the top of the mushroom before stepping over to another, then another. He traveled in such a fashion for a few minutes before dropping down to one closer to the ground, grabbing his book and opening it while beginning to read and study, humming happily to himself as his feet dangled off the edge. ”Now. Will I be able to read in peace? Probably not, but I’m gonna attempt it.” Delrius sat there for a good while, happily reading within the shade of the taller mushrooms. But then he heard something coming his way. There was no way for him to discern what kind of creature it was, and from the sound of its pace the thing was coming towards him, quickly making him think of ways to get out of its traversing path. The bovinite quickly climbed up the mushroom once more, getting higher up and laying flat on his back before drawing his caster guns, slow king his breathing as he waited. Hopefully they wouldnt take notice of his presence, but his heart was racing, just that sound alone would give him away. Yet his curiosity was going to get the better of him as it usually did, so ever so slowly he rolled onto his side, barely peaking past the top of the mushroom. though he was at a loss of words for what stood in his line of sight. A shorter woman with a green complexion, her armor from what it appeared seemed to be made out of natural materials of wood and leather. Though the strangest part were the tendrils she used to help traverse the terrain, easily going over or through any obstacle that stood in her path, and the aura she gave off………..well let’s just say it sent shivers through him. ”By the elders…….” Delrius whisepred to himself, his yellow eyes tracking her, his hands trembled slightly as his adrenaline started to kick in.

Delrius raised a brow as the woman had grown silent, looking over and seeing the expression on her face, staying silent himself as he surmised that Akna might be home sick. He knew that he would feel the same if he left the sands for some time, though such a topic he would not bring up unless she asked. The bovinite turned his head as he was hit by the cactus, chuckling as he waved his hand through the air and the false stars faded from their sight, “Forgive me, sometimes it’s just a natural reaction of mine.” He grew curios as the moth asked of his knowledge on the stars, thinking for a moment as he leaned back against the rock and chewed on the inside of his lip. ”I can’t say I’ve ever come to my own conclusion, I’ve heard a few different theories on the matter, but I have not spoken with someone who has studied such a topic.” He leaned forward a little bit as his eyes went back to her, curiosity glowing within his yellow orbs, “Do you study the stars?” This was something he hadn’t had the chance to do, pick someone’s brain on the study of the sky and nature in such a fashion, now he wondered what she might be able to share with him on the topic. ”Could you teach me about them?” Delrius reached into his satchel, grabbing his journal once more as he opened it, flipping through the pages until he found the next available blank piece of parchment, holding his quill before glancing back at Akna, though something he would discuss with himself later would be her anatomy and bone structure. Part of his was curious how the joints of her extra arms connected against her ribs or pre existing shoulders. Questions for a later time, but now he needed to focus on what she might share.

The alchemist sat there and listened to Akna as she prattled on about what a scholar was truly to be like, a slow chuckle escaping him before it turned into a small thing of laughter, a grin on his face as he stared her down with those bright yellow eyes. “Do not think I have not listened, for that is something I’m good at, but the way you approach my methods. That is what makes us different.” He shook his head and scratched at one of his horns, ”Elegance is to hide your flaws from others, etiquette is used by those who wish not to get their hands dirty, and endurance………..is something we all must have in this world if we wish to survive.” Delrius crossed his arms to lean back a little, “I’ve tried learning from those who teach within the schools, but they care only for their nobility and what lies within the walls of their schools and those who have the coin to pay for their services. I learned that they couldn’t teach me what the world was like and what challenges laid within it.” He sighed as he took a moment, rolling his eyes as the moth wanted to tell him his dream was a foolish one, so many times he had heard that before, and once he almost believed it. But he had been given praise for what he was trying to do, that he had a good heart and a noble will for wanting to help others, it seemed that not many wanted to share such ideals as he. Even those amongst scholars. ”You‘re right. It’s not noble, my time here won’t be remembered by the masses within this territory, my name won’t be recorded in history. And I can’t tell you how much I don’t care for it to be.“ The bovinite looked down towards the ground, knowing what this journey meant for him, looking at his hands before taking a deep breath. “I wish to see the world and help everyone I can while doing so………..I may be a fool for doing so, but I’m happy and satisfied with that choice. Your opinion and your words will never change that.” Delrius decided that was enough of that conversation for the night when the woman changed the subject, he has been through that argument enough and didn’t wish for it any longer. Such a choice was his alone. End of story. He perked up though when he caught her gazing at the stars, looking up into the night sky and watched as they twinkled above them, sliding down the rock so that he could lean back against it and gaze at them. “Every chance I get. They are beautiful up there, and I’ve never grown tired of them.” The longer Delrius stared at them he couldn’t help but let his magic show, illusions of stars began to appear around him, constellations he could see, though any he formed that were farther from the fire couldn’t be seen as the light passed through them and hid them within the darkness. ”They are what helped me discover my magic……….”

The bovinite sat there and couldn’t help but chuckle to himself as Akna started to rant on in a more complex manner than what was truly needed, though with the longer he listened to her the more he understood. In that moment the moth sounded like the higher ups and older scholars he had come into contact with beforehand, but her tone told him otherwise. Delrius would have to thank Tityana for being so blunt with him when they met. “If you believe I’ll think any differently of you because of your words………you’re speaking to the wrong bovinite.” He grinned, looking as she turned away the food he had offered, the realization hitting him that she mighg not eat beetle because she was mostly an insect herself as he groaned inwardly. ‘Good job jackass’, he thought to himself as he placed his rations back into his satchel, “Yes, I’m currently on route to the emerald city. Such an educated guess, you must have me all figured out.” Oh gods he was starting to sound like, curse that damned giant. Yet the young man couldn’t wipe away his grin as he could now see his guest in the light of the fire a little more clearly. Mothkela was only a race he had read about and heard stories of, yet the propaganda that followed was more than exaggerated and it was not information he relied upon. She seemed to almost glow againsg the sandy realm he called home, like she stood out from the other species that lived amongst the desert, even he himself felt as though they appeared as polar opposites. “Don’t worry, I welcome the snarkiness. Seems those that have it are the only ones that will speak in an honest fashion, whether it be blunt or crude.” Delrius paused as he thought of her question, looking down into the fire as he hummed, bringing his hands up and locking them together while his arms rested upon his legs. ”Insight.” The answer just felt natural, looking back upon at Akna for a moment, “Home felt constricting. Out here, traveling, learning, has felt more fruitful than sitting at an academy or school trying to learn from something that is different once you reach the real world. I wish to become a doctor, but not one who serves one people or city.” The alchemist sat up a little as he laughed a little, “I wish to help everyone………no matter who. I don’t care for the fame, the recognition, I wish to travel the sands. And heal those that are in need of help.” Such an idea seemed near impossible for one person, but his determination was set, he wouldn’t give up on his goal. “Forgive my ranting, it has been a few days since I’ve had worthwhile company.” He offered her another smile, grabbing another piece of dried out cactus, tossing it into the flames to keep the fire burning strong.

Delrius sat there watching the fire, feeling the heat that came off of it as he relaxed in the quiet night, thinking of the journey ahead of him in the morning. The pass would take a majority of the day to get through, but luckily with outcropping of rocks and stone the shade would keep the sun off his back, that would be the last bit of shade he would have for awhile before reaching the city. The young scholar paused as he heard foot steps approaching his camp, keeping his cool as he slowly reached to the back of his belt, his caster weapons hidden by his coat as his hand rested gently on the handle. Footsteps. Slow and methodic from the pacing, keeping his grip loose on his weapon just in case the person approaching him was not there for harm. He didn’t wish to draw his weapon, but he knew better than to be foolish, but the voice that followed was gentle. slowly turning so that his yellow eyes could gaze upon the stranger, listening to her as she stood just outside the light of the fire he had started to keep warmth through the night. His hand left his weapon after a moment of her comment, deciding that it wouldn’t be needed for the conversation. “Those that are not used to the sands would agree with you, the desert can be a place full of mysteries to those that are underprepared.” The bovinite relaxed for a moment, turning on the stone he sat upon, facing towards the stranger as he chuckled. “Yeah bandit pass can be a little bit of a sore realization in traveling the sea of dunes, but if you travel along it during the journey it can offer good cover from the sun and shelter during the night………..the city is a busy place, but such a trek is worth it in my eyes.” Delrius reached into his satchel, grabbing a wrapped piece of cloth, unfolding it to pull out some beetle jerky, tearing off a piece to chew on as he looked at the woman’s shadowy figure. “A companion wouldnt be turned away, having someone to converse with can be a blessing for the trip.” Delrius offered the woman a smile, motioning to one of the other stones near the fire, “Come. You can warm your bones by the fire, I have spare rations if you’re hungry. Can’t promise it’s the best thing to eat, but it’s a good stand in for food to keep your energy up for the trip. I can only assume you’re heading to the Emerald City as well?“ He took another bite, chewing on it as he kept his eyes on her, watching to see her reaction. “I can only guess you might be looking for work there……..not much else to do but teach or find someone to study under.” The alchemist as he grabbed his canteen, sipping the water from it before corking it up and setting it back down by his side, the fire giving his face a warm glow. “Names Delrius, and what do I have the pleasure of calling you?” He asked, wishing to be mannerly to the stranger, it was the least he could do if he planned to travel with the woman, holding out a piece of jerky towards her, wishing it to be a sign of trust if she chose to take it.
