History

The history below is designed to be inaccurate or unreliable to reflect how history behaves. Outside of the last 11 entries, the rest is an unreliable narrators perspective. Is it true? Is part of it or none of it? That's up for scholars to debate. These are a small fraction of the stories we have completed as a community. For brevity's sake, I included a few for the reader.

The First Seed of Unity: The Verdant Dynasty was sown when Chimalpoca, guided by visions of the Tree of Life, united warring jungle tribes, weaving a sacred bond with nature that strengthened their roots. This primal alliance was tested by the first incursions from the White Sand Empire under Shahbaaz al-Nazir. The desert winds carried war, but the jungle answered with resilience.

The Thorned Season: In a devastating epoch, the jungle trembled under the weight of the Thorn Blight, a fungal plague that strangled life at its core. Tlalli Yollotl, a revered healer, melded ancient alchemy with newfangled magics, casting the first seeds of magic-punk into the ground, sprouting the Treaty of Roots—a fragile truce among the jungle tribes.

The First Dark Curtain: An eldritch edifice of flesh loomed over the horizon, a grotesque tower from the abyss that hovered above the jungle. The tower devoured all life beneath its shadow, regurgitating unspeakable abominations that tore through the land. Under the rule of Nezahualpilli, the Verdant forces rallied to repel these horrors, and the Burning Spider, an ancient guardian of fire and life, incinerated the monstrosities to ash.

The Epoch of Crimson Peace: During the season of bloodshed, Tezcacoatl, a visionary leader, brokered an uneasy peace between the jungle and the desert, symbolized by the Crimson Spider—a fragile harmony where the arcane arts of both civilizations intertwined. But this peace was laced with the venom of mistrust, and its web was never meant to last.

The Eternal Voyager Appears: The first recorded sighting of the Eternal Voyager, a mysterious giantess, occurred during the fall of Tepictitlan. She arrived in the midst of chaos, guiding the last survivors before vanishing into the jungle.

The Great Uprising of Blood Leaves: Within the jungle’s heart, Acolmiztli, a once-loyal general, turned against the reign of Itzpapalotl, the Spider Chieftain. The rebellion surged through the jungle like wildfire, but it was quelled in a torrent of blood, ending in the infamous Rite of Blood Leaves, where the forest floor was soaked with the lifeblood of insurrectionists.

The Crystal Bloom: A discovery of immense magnitude—the harnessing of crystalline power—brought about a new era of magical technology. Ihuicatl, an ingenious alchemist, unlocked the secrets of crystalline oscillation, channeling the jungle's latent energies into intricate webs of magic-punk technology. This era saw a fusion of life and machine, with pipelines of energy coursing through the jungle, lighting cities and powering their defenses.

The Second Abyssal Onslaught: As the jungle thrived, the Shades of the Void—necrotic creatures born from the defiled edifice—returned with greater ferocity. Mictlantecuhtli, a general wielding the powers of life and death, summoned the spirits of the past to repel this second dark curtain. Though victory was achieved, the jungle wept for its lost children, and the scars of war marred its trees.

The Seed of War: As the first shoots of civilization spread, the Verdant tribes engaged in the War of Roots, where rival clans fought over sacred groves until Tenoch, a druid-king, called forth the Elder Trees, massive sentinels that guarded the peace.

The Defiled Reclaim the Abyss: In a cataclysmic resurgence, the Defiled, creatures of the abyss, surged forth from the Flesh Tower, a twisted edifice hovering once more on the jungle’s horizon. Eternal Voyager, the enigmatic female giantess, appeared once again, leading the charge against the horrors. Her vanishing after the battle left the jungle to wonder at her true purpose, as the Defiled were once again beaten back—but not eradicated

Beneath the Canopy: Before the White Sand incursions, jungle tribes worshiped the Jade Serpent, an elusive deity said to coil around the Tree of Life. Its sightings marked omens of fortune or doom, shaping early spiritual traditions.

The Sands' First Bite: The initial skirmish between the jungle and desert came when Nasir ibn-Karim, a nomadic warlord, crossed the great dunes to pillage the jungle. The Verdant Dynasty, still nascent, repelled him using enchanted fauna and sacred predators.

The Lost Seed: During an early epoch, a jungle kingdom attempted to fuse nature with machines. Ixchel, an alchemist-queen, devised living constructs. These beings ran amok, forcing her people to scatter into the wilds where the survivors lived in exile for generations.

The Fire Leaves: A devastating inferno, ignited by a rogue desert sorcerer, swept across the jungle in an early war season. Chalchiuhtlicue, a rain priestess, called upon the forest spirits to unleash torrential rains, saving the heart of the jungle but forever altering its landscape.

The Era of Peaceful Growth: In a brief era of peace, Tlaloc, a philosopher-chieftain, oversaw the construction of the first crystalline towers. These structures, powered by magic and symbiosis with the land, laid the foundation for future magic-punk advancements.

The Great Drought: The jungle withered under a decade-long drought, instigated by unknown forces. Legends tell of a Rainstone, a mystical relic said to have vanished during the first incursions, which Necahual, a shamaness, sought but never found.

The Moon's Embrace: A strange silver eclipse marked the rise of the Moon-Kissed Clans, who claimed their people were chosen by a celestial spider-goddess. Their beliefs clashed with the Verdant Dynasty's dominant faith, leading to a series of moonlit battles across the treetops.

The Forgotten Throne: The Jaguar King, Coatl, ruled a vast region of the jungle until his mysterious disappearance. His kingdom, adorned with living statues and plants imbued with consciousness, faded into myth, leaving only his vine-choked throne as a remnant.

The Mothkela Schism: A rift formed within the Mothkela, the mystics of the Lunar Veil, over the use of crystalline power. Metztli, an arch-mage, led the conservative faction against those who sought to exploit crystals for weaponry. Their schism fractured the Lunar Veil, weakening its defenses against desert incursions.

The Blood-Root Cult: During an early epoch, a cult dedicated to the Blood-Root, a parasitic plant said to grant eternal life, rose to power. Their reign was cut short when the plant began consuming its followers, twisting them into plant-like abominations.

The Time of Hornets: The Hornet War, led by Xochipilli, saw jungle tribes battling the White Sand Empire using swarms of venomous hornets conjured by shamans. The sands could not defend against this natural fury, forcing them into retreat.

The War of Blades and Beasts: Cuauhtemoc, a warrior-king, led a brutal campaign to reclaim lands lost to White Sand incursions. His armies, bolstered by tamed jungle beasts, swept through enemy lines like a storm, leaving the Desert of Blades as a reminder of his victory.

The Star Plague: Falling stars heralded the arrival of the Star Plague, a celestial disease that struck down only the strongest warriors. The surviving Verdant tribes sought the aid of Ix Chel, a healer-queen, whose magical water gardens restored their strength.

The Dream of Xolotl: A strange era of shared dreams swept through the jungle, where every inhabitant dreamed of a colossal Serpent of Light slithering through the heavens. The dream sparked the Serpent Reformation, an era of spiritual awakening and arcane discovery.

The River War: The River War saw the Verdant forces battling the Slarkreen, amphibious invaders from the swamps. Their attempt to seize control of the Great River was thwarted when Itztli, a river-guardian, unleashed ancient water magic, drowning the invading forces.

The Wrath of the Sky: The jungle endured the Storm of Thorns, a legendary lightning storm that ignited thorn-covered trees, turning vast sections of the jungle into a flaming forest of thorns. Tonalnan, a thunder shaman, quelled the storm by striking a pact with the sky spirits.

The Spider Chieftain's Rise: Cihuacoatl, the Spider Chieftain, emerged as a unifying force, conquering disparate jungle tribes and weaving their cultures into the grand tapestry of the Verdant Dynasty. She crushed all resistance, building an empire steeped in spider worship and martial discipline.

The Iron Serpent Revolt: A faction within the Verdant Dynasty, known as the Iron Serpents, attempted to rise in rebellion, advocating for the full mechanization of the jungle through magic-punk technology. Their revolt was put down when the great tree spirits awakened to defend nature against the machine.

The Lunar Veil Conflict: Beneath the ethereal moonlight of the Lunar Veil, the Mothkela tribe waged war against the Al-Qasim dynasty of the desert over the luminous crystal mines. The Season of Silver Blood saw alchemical explosions that lit the sky for days, decimating both sides. A truce brokered by the diplomat Coatlicue restored a fragile peace, but the wounds of the Crystal War never fully healed.

The Exodus of Bone and Sand: When the Verdant Dynasty, led by Valerna Jorgenskull, delivered the final blow to the White Sand Empire, its ruler Zahir ibn-Khalid fell to betrayal and decay. The empire crumbled, and its people fled along the Skeletal Highway, a migration route forged from the bones of the fallen, binding desert and jungle in a macabre dance of survival.

The Northern Emergence: Far to the north, under the shadow of snow and storm, the Oni clans arose—behemoth spiritual warriors claiming dominion over the ancient jungles. Their ascendance coincided with the birth of the Eternal Empire, a formidable force of power and mystery, casting new threats over the Verdant Dynasty's realm.

The Web of Revolt: During a tumultuous era, the Cult of Coatl, a secretive order worshipping forbidden entities, orchestrated an insurrection within the jungle. Their blasphemous rituals unleashed a plague of serpentine horrors, but Necahual, a priestess of the old gods, invoked the Rites of the Sacred Web to entrap the creatures in arcane wards, quelling the uprising before it spread.

The Flame Reborn: In the aftermath of the Second Abyssal Onslaught, rumors spread of a Burning Spider reborn from the ashes of the first. Some claimed this fiery guardian had slumbered in the depths of the jungle’s core, awakening only in times of dire need. Its reappearance sparked hope—and fear—that the eldritch tower might yet return.

The Halls of Glass and Web: Cozamalotl, an architect of unmatched brilliance, oversaw the creation of the Halls of Glass and Web, where crystalline spires gleamed in the light of the twin moons. Here, the Verdant Dynasty’s scholars unlocked deeper secrets of crystal manipulation, merging arcane knowledge with nature's intricate designs. But whispers persisted of a Curse of the Glass Spires, foretelling their inevitable fall.

The War of Roots and Golems: A violent clash erupted when factions within the Verdant Dynasty, led by Icnoyotl, attempted to fuse nature and golems in ways that violated ancient traditions. The War of Roots and Golems tore the jungle asunder, as ancient guardians, enraged by the desecration of sacred lands, rose from the depths to annihilate the rogue engineers. Nature prevailed, reaffirming its dominance over the creeping rise of mechanical tyranny.

The Plague of Crawling Rot: In a dark epoch, the jungle was struck by the Crawling Rot, a vile disease that corrupted not only flesh but also the very trees themselves, turning them into grotesque, moving abominations. Yoloxochitl, a powerful mystic, sacrificed herself to contain the rot, enacting a powerful ritual that sealed the curse deep within the earth. Yet, tremors of its resurgence linger in whispered tales.

The Spidress Ascends: Florentina Jorgenskull, the enforcer of the dynasty, led a brutal campaign against what remained of the desert, where the its last defenders crumbled like dunes before the storm. She carved a path of bones and webs, uniting the southern

continent under the dynasty’s banner and securing her legacy as the Spider Queen’s blade.

The Final Hextor Conquest: Florentina Jorgenskull, leading a fierce campaign, conquered the Hextor region, establishing the Verdant Dynasty's dominance over the region. Her unification of these lands further solidified the Dynasty's power and paved the way for continued growth and expansion.

The Eternal Empire’s Expansion and Hextor's Resistance: The Eternal Empire, under the mysterious leadership of the Djinn, began its southern expansion from Enchantress's Way, seeking to dominate new territories. However, as they reached Hextor, they encountered unexpected resistance from its newly established government under Florentina Jorgenskull. Hextor’s military prowess and strategic positioning halted the Djinn’s advance. After a series of skirmishes, the Eternal Empire retreated north, forced to reconsider its ambitions and solidify its rule within its existing borders.

Florentina’s Secession from the Verdant Dynasty: Following her successful conquest of Hextor, Florentina Jorgenskull sought greater autonomy. Citing ideological differences with the Verdant Dynasty and its ruling matron, Valerna, Florentina declared Hextor’s independence, forming a new nation. Her secession marked the rise of Hextor as a distinct political entity, with its culture, military, and governmental structure standing apart from the jungle's empire. Florentina’s leadership shaped Hextor into a bastion of resilience, no longer beholden to the policies of the Verdant Dynasty.

Florentina’s Preparation for War and Hextor’s Rising Influence: After securing Hextor’s sovereignty, Florentina focused on preparing the nation for war. Her military reforms were swift and comprehensive, forging an army known for discipline, strategy, and ruthless efficiency. Florentina projected Hextor’s influence onto the international stage, forging alliances and demonstrating the nation's strength. Hextor became a formidable power, positioning itself as a critical player in the global political landscape, and Florentina’s name became synonymous with both independence and military dominance.

The Rise of the Oni Sovereigns: Amidst the ruins of failed empires, the Oni Sovereigns rose to power in the far north, their dominion marked by icy winds and arcane prowess. Their emergence brought fresh challenges to the dynasty, forcing Valerna and Florentina to unite the southern continent in preparation for an inevitable clash. Meanwhile the Eternal Empire formed a coalition with their neighbors.
